1. What has your journey been since graduation?
My journey has had some unexpected twists and turns as I'm sure is common. I worked with some amazing students at Oakland University after graduation. Then I was a training facilitator at PNC Bank, a company I have now been with for 11 years. After my adventures in facilitating, I was a Training Project Manager, and now lead Organizational Change Management initiatives on the largest projects at the bank. I have been able to live in various parts of Michigan and have loved each one.
2. How has Grand Valley had a role in your journey?
I carry GVSU in my heart wherever I go. Grand Valley prepared me for what I would find on the other side of graduation. I was able to gain real-life experience and skills needed to be successful and grow as a person, and a leader within my career. GV taught me I could bring my whole self to work and my talents would be appreciated. It taught me most, how to work with others.
3. What is your favorite Grand Valley memory?
This is a hard one to answer! I would say being serenaded at Homecoming my senior year. I remember laughing and smiling at all my favorite people smiling back at me singing their hearts out (and mostly in tune). It was a time of pure joy.
4. What three words describe your experience at Grand Valley?
Fulfilling. Growth. Home.
5. How, and why, have you stayed involved with Grand
Valley since graduation?
I have stayed involved with Grand Valley in order to give back to a place that gave so much to me. Plus, I always feel joy when I'm involved in a GV event. I’m an Alumni Ambassador working with the Admission Office to recruit potential students. I was a GVSU Alumni Champion with the Development Office. I've been a three-time Site Coordinator for Community Outreach Week (COW).
6. Why are you proud to be a Laker for a Lifetime?
GVSU continues to make me proud in the way it creates a positive Laker Effect, felt by the state, country and world. I'm proud of the well-rounded education I received and how much the university cared about inclusion and growth of each individual student. I never felt like just a number to them. They care about teaching graduates who will contribute positively to society.
7. What do you like to do for fun?
Movies, concerts, camping / jeeping. I love animals and creative projects. Event/wedding coordination is also a passion of mine.
8. What is your favorite quote/motto to live by?
"Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose."
9. What motivates you?
Possibility for growth and learning. Desire to help others. A chance to use my creativity.
10. What book or movie have you recently enjoyed?
Thor: Ragnarok is amazing!
