GVSU gave me everything. Before college I had little self-confidence and essentially no leadership skills. My time at the university shaped me into who I am and made me a stronger professional and a better, happier person.
During the course of my Ph.D. studies, I took full-time work at the University of Kentucky Martin Luther King Center. When I finished my Ph.D. I took the position I'm in now, back in my home state of Michigan.
I finally found my way back to my true home - Grand Rapids. I've been here since 2012 and I hope to stay for a while. I found another home at Farmers Insurance on the marketing and sales team for their company-owned brokerage.
Since graduation, I have remained at my current place of employment for the past 5 years. GVSU exposed me to life on non-profit boards, so I have continued to involve myself in various organizations and give back to my community.
Since graduating I have worked on two political campaigns here in Michigan working in Finance and Fundraising. This was not the path I thought I would take but have loved it so far.
After graduating, I worked and earned my Masters of Arts in Higher Education Administration at Central Michigan University and eagerly returned to GVSU to put those student affairs experiences to use!
Grand Valley taught me valuable lessons while spending 4 years in Allendale and Grand Rapids which translated well and made my transition to graduate school fairly smooth.
I'm honored to be part of a great community.
Since graduation, I spent roughly three years working for the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce as an Events Project Manager where I oversaw the planning and execution of numerous Chamber events and programs.
As a member of the Young Alumni Council, I have been involved with planning events that bring Laker alum back to campus and remind them why they love Grand Valley.
