Food 4 Fines

Food 4 Fines

Parking Services is partnering with Replenish food pantry to host Food 4 Fines. This program allows Lakers to pay towards parking citations (up to 2 citations) by donating needed items to Replenish. Donations are accepted at Parking Services on the Allendale campus only, but you may pay towards citations from Pew campus too. This donation program will run from Monday February 12 - Friday March 2. If interested, please refer to the details below for valid donations and their values. ADA, Fire Lane, Building Entrance, Fraudulent Permit violations, and citations that have been sent to Student Accounts or Collections will not be valid for donations.

Food 4 Fines FAQ

Each individual can only use F4F on 2 citations and cannot be applied to ADA, Fire Lane, Building Entrance, or Fraudulent Permit violations. Also, citations that have been transferred to Student Accounts or Collections cannot be covered using this program.

A tier is a group of items that we assigned monetary value towards a citation, the value of your donation does not depend on how much you spend.  Each item of one tier is worth the same value.  We value items more depending on their weight.  For example a 10oz. bag of rice is a Tier 1 item ($3) but a 20oz. bag is a Tier 2 item ($5).  We also value healthy donations! Cereal is separated into two Tiers by their sugar content.

It doesn't have to! We will apply the value of your donation towards the citation and you can pay the rest with card or cash.

Yes, as long as the items are individually packaged and can be individually separated and stored. Please remember, these items are for individual Lakers. Some bulk packages will count as one. For example, a 4 pack of toilet paper counts as one item.

No, we base the donation value off the Tier of the item and not the value that you bought it at.

Yes, each item is assigned a tier and you may mix and match different values to cover your citation.

Yes! That's the exact positive impact of Food 4 Fines that we hope to achieve.

Example Scenario

Sally received a parking citation for $35.00. Rather than paying cash for the citation, Sally wants to help fellow Lakers and pay with the Food 4 Fines program.

In order to pay the $35.00 fine, Sally could buy:

Four 16 oz bags of quinoa (Tier 3, $7 each) and two cans of deodorant (Tier 2, $5 each)

         -or-

Seven 16 oz containers of oatmeal (Tier 2, $5 each)

No Fine? No Problem! Parking Services welcomes outside donations too!
